For one full year, I documented my neighborhood in Hamburg, Germany, in a different, more intimate way. Almost every night I walked nearly every street in my district, accompanied only by an old, small digital camera. Without a fixed plan or route, driven by genuine curiosity about what the night and the empty streets would reveal.
In the installation these images are presented in a programmed endless loop. An algorithm continuously and randomly selects new combinations. There is no repetition, no fixed sequence. The pictures flow into one another and it becomes quite hypnotizing as new random dialogues between the images emerge every few seconds. Suddenly forms, textures, colors, and motives begin to relate to each other. I recommend activating the fullscreen.
